You don’t have to sacrifice taste for space!

Well, if you’re like us … you love your coffee.  We can’t seem to start our day without at least one cup of the steaming, fragrant & yummy brew.  But when you’re traveling in a RV or camping, space is at a premium.  You have to make choices about what’s important and what you can do without to squeeze in that important stuff and for us, an Aeropress Coffee Maker is and ideal choice.

Aeropress Coffee Maker

Pressing the Brew

For a while we used one of those ‘pod’ style coffee makers – a small one with no reservoir – and it worked ok.  But it still took up room, had to be stored when the vehicle was moving and it uses electricity, not good if you’re booddocking.  The pods are also not cheap when you can even find ones that satisfy your taste for a strong, full-bodied brew like we crave.  Then a friend told us about this coffee press.  He’s quite a coffee ‘snob’ … so I knew if he liked it there was probably something to it.

Aeropress Coffee System

We tried it and once we got the hang of how much coffee makes the perfect cup … we were absolutely hooked!  So hooked in fact that we use it exclusively now … even when we’re not traveling!  The Aeropress is also perfect for taking along on backcountry hiking and kayaking trips.

It’s actually quite fast, simply boil your water, grind your coffee (or use pre-ground) and dump it into the reservoir.  Pour in the boiled water, stir for about 15 seconds, put the filter in the little grate and press!  Voila!  Perfect espresso or dilute in your cup for a perfect Americano!

You can find these little gems in a lot of kitchen appliance stores, some coffee shops or you can order it online from MEC or Amazon.
