Save Money with Discounts at RV Parks/Campgrounds

The cost of everything is going up!  I can’t blame RV parks for upping their fees as well.  Electicity, sewage, park maintenance, washers/dryers, showers … they all take money to maintain.

Most RV parks offer discounts  – mostly as incentives to get you to choose them over the park down the street.  It pays to be aware of all the options for discounts to make your budget stretch as far as you can.

Here are some ways we’ve found to help make our trips more affordable:

1.  Automobile Club.

If you’re in the U.S. it’s called AAA, if you’re in Canada it’s CAA,  and I’m sure there’s something like this in other countries as well, simply check in your particular country for details.  Not only do these organizations offer discounts at various campgrounds, but you can also get maps, insurance (both vehicle insurance and emergency roadside insurance), help with trip planning and (my favorite) books listing hundreds of campgrounds with descriptions, details and directions to each.  I find these books invaluable when traveling!  The books don’t have ALL the RV parks/campgrounds listed, but they have a LOT.  Some campgrounds/parks offer discounts if you’re a member – you just have to remember to ask!  The bonus is these organizations also offer discounts at hotels/motels and car rentals.  Well worth the cost of membership!

Good Sam Club
2.  Good Sam Club.

We joined this organization on a whim once a couple of years ago and boy are we glad we did!!  The discounts at RV parks alone paid for our membership fee within the first few days.  They have an extensive network of parks that are affiliated with them and most are great places.  The parks/campgrounds are most prevalent in the U.S., but there are some in Canada as well.  I wish there were more!
Good Sam Roadside Assistance

Good Sam Club also offers a Roadside Assistance program.  Well worth checking out!

The real bonus with the Good Sam Club (in my humble opinion) is the discount you get at Camping World.  It’s one of our favorite go-to places for all things camping.  They have quite an extensive network of stores that sell camping gear but in addition they also have a mechanical facility AND they even sell RV’s!  If you haven’t visited one of their stores before – take a look … they’re awesome!

So if you can’t find a free spot to camp (my favorite!) or a National, State, Provincial or Territorial Park (next favorite!) be sure to have a membership to one of the above organizations and be sure to get your discount at RV Parks & campgrounds.  (Money saved camping = More money for shopping!)
