Screened Gazebo

Screened Gazebo at our campsite

One of the trips on our bucket list was to visit Northern BC, the Yukon and Alaska, but the bugs up there can be bad.  Coming from the west coast of Canada, bugs aren’t really a big concern, however, up north it is not  pleasant sitting outside with hundreds of mosquitos and black fly’s buzzing in your ears.

We travel in a 27’ Class C motorhome, so we could escape inside, but what is the point of that on a nice day in a beautiful campsite? We needed a screened room of some type to protect us from the bugs.

After doing some research we settled on the World Famous Kwik Set Gazebo.  It is a quick set-up room; that was one of my first criteria, I didn’t want to spend 20-30 minutes setting one of these things up.  The World Famous can be erected in under 2 minutes…dead easy.  You will spend a few more minutes pegging it down to make it nice and tight and if you anticipate wind, you can use the included guy lines that will make it very wind resistant.  Other rooms we looked at had questionable reviews regarding wind resistance and the last thing you need is a room that will blow away or will be damaged by the first strong gust of wind.  The other factor we really wanted was water-proofness in case it did start to rain. The World Famous room has zip-down, roll-away rain flaps on all 6 sides.  Another big plus of the rain flaps is that they can be used to provide shade from the sun or protection from a chill wind. The room also has 2 spacious entrances making it easy to get in and out of.

Other features of the room include a ring in the ceiling to hang a light weight lantern and a pocket sewn on the inside if you need to stash sunglasses or a book off the ground. It also comes with No-see-um netting, pegs, guy-lines and a carrying bag with handles for storage. Instructions are conveniently sewn inside the carrying bag in case you haven’t used it in a while and forget the setup procedure.
