Well, it’s almost time to head north … but we’ve had to push back our intended start date by a week as I just got a call from a doctor I’ve been waiting to see for the past year!  Don’t want to miss that!

In the meantime, we’ve been busy moving into our new 5th wheel – the insurance company finally wrote the burned one off.  We’re now the proud owners of a 2016 Grand Design Solitude.  It’s a bit shorter than our last 5th wheel – 37 ft – but very nicely appointed and we’re starting to feel very comfortable in it.

We’re also busy getting our new tow vehicle ready to roll!  We bought a used 2010 Honda CRV that only had 25,000 kms. and looks like new!  This will enable us to get into more remote places on rougher roads than the Focus!  Honda CRV

We decided though, that it was a bit too much money to hire a shop to install the tow package, so with a bit of internet searching, Bruce found all the parts to do it himself!  A very resourceful guy!

The tow plate is now installed, the roof racks are on … and this week will see Bruce attempt to install the wiring for the braking system!  So far everything is going well.

In addition, we’re going to try and repair the damage to the Class C that happened 2 years ago at the Alaska/Yukon border crossing.  We parked a bit too close to the booth where the customs officer sat Damage to Class Cand took out a chunk of our back end on a bollard!  A bit of work to do on that!

We hate to leave Victoria right now … every tree and bush that can bloom IS blooming!  I’ve never seen it so amazing before.  Must be the combination of lots of spring rain and now the heat.  So Beautiful!  But we’ve got to be out of our spot at the West Bay Marine & RV park on the 1st of May, so we’ll bunk with Bruce’s parents and for a few days and once I see the doctor on the 5th … we’re OFF!

I think we’ll head to the Sunshine Coast for a bit and just relax and take it easy.  We’ve had so much stress lately with the fire etc., that it will be good just to sit back, do a bit of paddling and relax!
