Rosco’s RV Park Review

Rosco's RV Park

Rosco’s RV Park

When arriving in Fort St. John we wanted something in/close to town so we could get all our shopping done.  The first place we tried was Corner RV Park which was the only one listed in the tourist guide.  It sort of looked abandoned/closed, but the ‘owner’ was out front getting out of his pick-up and asked us what we wanted.  He said he was full!!!! But that there was a ‘new’ place down the road and he told us how to get there.

Yes, it is most definitely new.  I think it’s only been open a short time but it was still pretty packed.  The term RV ‘park’ can only be applied loosely … it’s less a ‘park’ than a gravel parking lot.  The entire site was covered in loose, wobbly, sinking gravel.  No trees, no grass, no picnic table … just gravel.  You can’t even sit outside as the big, loose chunks of gravel aren’t really conducive to that.  Perhaps as they continue to work at the place it may improve but for now it was simply a place to stay overnight.  I think a lot of these parks are used by people living/working in the area.

They don’t have wi-fi yet … but the host/owner? graciously allowed us to use her personal network which was very nice of her.

For all this gravel, plus being right off the main road, it was pricey at $40/night.

On the plus side … it was clean … and the shower/laundry facility which was behind the park was super clean and quite spiffy!

However … if you just go up the road about 4km … you’ll come to the Ross H Maclean Rotary RV Park, located right on Charlie Lake.  Much nicer facility – and next door to a good pub (Jackfish Dundees – look for my review on Trip Advisor!).

*To be fair, I believe the owners are planning on putting in some concrete pads, grass and trees in the future.  If that’s the case, the site would change dramatically and could be a pretty nice place!
