We got up bright and early and were on the road. We headed towards Redding and the next Costco! It’s starting to look very ‘California-like’ with more and more palm trees and some amazingly beautiful pink flowered bushes along the roads.

Traffic was gnarly in a lot of places but we made it through unscathed. (Except for Linda’s permanently white knuckles!)  Got to Costco and filled up on liquor and a giant bag of limes. All we need now is some Triple Sec and it’s Margarita time!

Back on the road and drove till we almost dropped … we broke down and stopped in a decent RV park (Santa Nella RV Park) for showers and hook-ups. Very reasonable – and with our Good Sam discount was only $27 for the nite. Even Bruce can live with that.

We did something we don’t normally do … we’d been seeing signs for the “Famous Pea Soup Anderson’s” for miles and as it was right across the street we just had to give it a try. Oh My. It’s claim to fame was obviously the pea soup which was a bland, pureed liquidy soup which was underwhelming to say the least. I opted for one of their ‘house favorites’ which was Danish Sausage, potato & red cabbage. Well. They’ve obviously catering to the mega-obese Americans as there was enough food on the plate for at LEAST 2 people – or 3 in a pinch. There were 2 sausages which tasted like luke-warm bland blah … and the potato. Oh My …. The potato! It was a whole, cooked potato that must have weighed a pound if it weighed an ounce! I ate maybe ¼ of it and was full. The cabbage was ok but the ½ lb. of it was way more than anyone should eat. All in all … I have no idea why it’s been there since 1924 except it’s in the middle of nowhere and people here have no taste buds!

Anyway, we both had nice hot showers and are feeling ready to tackle one more hard day of driving. Although … we see that we’re quite close to Yosemite Park … never been there … should we? Maps will come out tonight!
