Hat Creek Ranch

Close to the junction of Hwy #99 & Hwy #97 is a wonderful stop for visitors of all ages.  It’s called HAT CREEK RANCH.  It’s a historic site originally established in 1861 by former Hudson’s Bay Company trader Donald McLean.  It started out as a small log stopping house for the gold rush and ended up a two-storied structure which included sleeping areas, a saloon, stage passenger waiting room, restaurant land later a working ranch.

The site includes a small gift shop and restaurant.  While the site itself is WELL worth taking in … I’d steer clear of the restaurant.  While the food was ok … it was pricey and took a LONNNNGGG time to come to us.
