If you’re looking for an inexpensive camp site … stop in to one of the Alaska Public Lands Information Centres for a map outlining all the various sites in the state.

It lists all the designated BLM’s (Bureau of Land Management) sites, National Parks, Alaska State Parks and U.S. Fish and Wildlife sites.  This map is available for a nominal fee at one of their offices (see below for locations).

This map shows the location of the sites, how many spots are in each site, what services are available, maximum size of unit that will fit into the site and other various information.

We used this map A LOT on our trip!  Most sites range in price from $18 – $20/nite although some are free; but all are a real bargain.  They’re clean and well-managed … some allow reservations … most are first-come/first-serve.
