After a day of hiking, biking or paddling around Whitehorse, or just because …Takhini Hotsprings is a relaxing place to while away some time and relax!  One of my favorite places to go on any vacation or trip is a local hot spring.  I’m a sucker for hot springs, I admit it!

While not the most beautiful of venues, it’s still good for a soak and makes the old bones feel good!

Post Update:

Takhini Hot springs have been completely rebuilt and re-named             Eclipse Nordic Hot Springs!

Linda soaking up the heat in Takhini Hot Springs

Located about 28kms (18 miles) from Whitehorse, it’s an easy drive down the Alaska Hwy west, then up #2 Hwy north (North Klondike Hwy) and then another 10 kms (6 miles) to the Hot Springs.

There are 2 connected pools – the first is the hottest and only about 4 feet deep.  The 2nd pool is a bit (!) cooler and is about 6.5 feet deep at the centre.

As I said, it’s not beautiful in and of itself, being concrete pools, but the setting is beautiful and it’s fun to watch the ground squirrels scurry around while you’re soaking.

It’s open year round and has a campground on-site if you want to stay.  There is also a restaurant on site, but hours vary so check beforehand if you’re coming in hungry.
